7 Great Christmas Date Ideas that are COVID-Safe
Santa Ville

This year, whether you’ve been married for years or are scheduling an initial meet-up, Christmas dates will look a little bit different than years prior. However, just because COVID-19 is still an everyday concern does not mean it has to deter you from having some holiday fun on your dates this season! If you want to spend time with a special someone while making sure you’re both being safe, here are some great Christmas date ideas that can be accommodated in this new way in which we live.

  1. Go ice skating at a local park.

One of the most quintessential wintertime activities is going ice skating. Opt for a skating date at an outdoor rink at your local park or community center. By being outside, you’ll limit your risk, and you’ll still be able to have a picture-perfect Christmas date.

  1. Go for a festive walk around your city or town.

During the Christmas season, many will install lights and other fun decorations outside their homes. Go for a nice festive walk with your loved one to admire all the lights in your neighborhood. Take pictures of your favorites so you can look back at them later. Bonus tip: going on a festive Christmas lights walk is all the better with a holiday flavored coffee or hot chocolate.

  1. Build a snowman.

If you live in an area that gets a fair amount of snow, tap into your inner child and go on an adventure to build a snowman. As the classic Christmas song “Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland” contends, you’re sure to “have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman.” So, grab your special someone and head outside to get creative with your snow creation.

  1. Have a virtual gingerbread house contest.

If you don’t live in the same house as the person you’re hoping to spend time with this year, it may not be safe to schedule an indoor date. However, you can always have a virtual date! Get creative and have a gingerbread house building and decorating contest with your loved one through Zoom, FaceTime, or another video calling service. You’ll still be able to see each other, and the gingerbread houses!

  1. Gather around a backyard fire.

Another great outdoor idea is having a bonfire in your backyard. You can roast hotdogs, make s’mores, and sip hot chocolate to keep warm. You and your date will have so much fun with a festive backyard fire. Just make sure you bundle up and practice adequate fire safety!

  1. Watch a Christmas movie at a drive-in.

Check around your town or city to see if there are any special Christmas movie drive-in events. You can stay separate from people outside your household and still be able to have a fun Christmas date with your favorite holiday movies. This date idea can be especially fun if you take turns picking the movies you go see, so you can learn more about each other’s favorites.

  1. Trim the tree.

No Christmas holiday would be complete without a well-decorated Christmas tree. Either virtually or in-person, make a date out of trimming the tree to your hearts’ content. If you want something truly special to hang on the tree, consider putting up some of Santa’Ville’s customized Christmas ornaments. Having a personalized ornament adds an element of flair to your tree that is unique to you and your significant other.

Try out any of the above ideas if you want to have a special Christmastime date with your loved one but want to make sure you’re doing so safely! This year, especially, we all deserve to have some extra festive fun.
